The Gospel Spreading Hat

I have one… a Christian hat that is; it has a verse from 1 Corinthians listed on it and has a nice looking cross in the middle. I wore it for a few days and thought I was pretty cool since I was “spreading the good news” when I was walking through the mall or grocery store. After all, I didn’t have to do anything except wear a hat, and the lost and undecided would be exposed to the message that I have been commanded to share. That’s right everyone, I figured out how to easily share the message of Christ without having to get out of my comfort zone! I even started thinking about writing a book labeled ‘Evangelizing for Dummies’ – hats, bumper stickers, shirts, ties, tattoos and on and on – all of these things that we could simply display and the message is spread! Good stuff, right? Well, it was at about the time of my mapping out the future of evangelism when I was walking through a store wearing my awesome “Good News Hat” as I had come to call it… that I got rather upset at a cas...

Don't Stop Praying

What if we spent our entire day never saying “amen?” No, I don’t mean literally, it is quite okay for you to utter the word as it simply means that you are in agreement, but think about living a life in constant and continuous prayer. Imagine waking up and asking God to give you the strength and endurance to focus on him all day long. Then there is driving to work, your work day, breaks, lunches, going to the grocery store, dropping the kids off, picking them up, and so on. All of your daily activities will be spent focusing on the lord and seeking his guidance and direction throughout your day. Crazy idea? You wouldn’t call it crazy if someone were to say that they carry their phone with them everywhere they go. Why do we see our conversations with God any different? We tend to forget that the amazing creator of everything is right here for us. But it is only one-way communication, we might think… if that is the case then try to spend a little more time focusing on your conversati...

Home

Do you ever think of going home? Now that I am away from my hometown of San Antonio, I often think of what it will be like when I return home. Construction will hopefully be completed on the highways, the new housing developments will be surprising to see, and the people I see will all be different. My mom and dad will be older even though I still picture what they looked like when I was 10, my brother will not be the same guy that I knew when we used to stay up late and play video games, and who knows when I might be able to see my friends. Things will just be different. Still, home is the place in our hearts where we feel we can go to and all will be okay with the world. When the bills stack up and the job gets stressful it is a bit of relief to remember home. Just think about the way mom used to make your favorite food, and dad used to go outside and play football, why wouldn’t anyone want to be a kid again if even just for a moment? Why does home hold such a prominent spot in our...
