What if we spent our entire day never saying “amen?” No, I don’t mean literally, it is quite okay for you to utter the word as it simply means that you are in agreement, but think about living a life in constant and continuous prayer. Imagine waking up and asking God to give you the strength and endurance to focus on him all day long. Then there is driving to work, your work day, breaks, lunches, going to the grocery store, dropping the kids off, picking them up, and so on. All of your daily activities will be spent focusing on the lord and seeking his guidance and direction throughout your day.
Crazy idea? You wouldn’t call it crazy if someone were to say that they carry their phone with them everywhere they go. Why do we see our conversations with God any different? We tend to forget that the amazing creator of everything is right here for us. But it is only one-way communication, we might think… if that is the case then try to spend a little more time focusing on your conversations with God. You might just be surprised to hear what he has to say. I am only saying this from my own experience. Give God your worries and troubles and he is more than willing and capable to handle them. In the end it isn’t a test for you to pass or a ritual you need to perform that God is waiting to check off daily, but rather God just wants to hear from you. He wants to hear about what troubles you and what you are grateful about. Doesn’t God know? He sure does, but it’s like music to his ears when he hears from you because you are taking the time to focus on him.
Prayer is not for God to know what is going on in your life or even for another person you may be praying for, but rather it is for you to grow into a more mature relationship with him! A selfless act and an act of faith is what prayer is defined as. Just like you can talk to your parents or a close friend, God is there to hear you out. So, begin the day by praying and never stop. You might just start seeing the world through God’s eyes and start seeing the plans that he has for you.
Now, we can all say amen to that!
In Christ,
Jon
