Is God real or isn't He?

I can talk about faith, love, and fellowship all day long… but if we don’t initially believe that God is real in the first place, then it doesn’t really matter, does it? Some people may find it crazy to think that people don’t believe in God. On the other hand, the majority of the world does say that Christians are crazy to believe in the Almighty. So who is right? Is God real or isn't He? Obviously, you know my take on this. I believe with all of my heart that God is real and he became flesh through Christ to live a perfect human life and take on the sins of all of us so that we can now be found perfect in the face of judgment. I find the utmost peace in what I believe and tell you that there really is no greater security than knowing that I will be with God forever. I have noticed that people usually are just content with being uncertain of the existence of God. “Well, if He is real, I’ll find out when I die” I hear them say. Or the universal view of God, where someone believes t...

Living Loved

Living loved. What a concept. Do you go day in and day out with highs and lows? It’s great to live loved by someone you live with or maybe a parent, a boss, coach, your children – you name it, it is your life. But what happens when they take advantage of that love? Or what happens when they fail to meet your expectations in that love? Oh, the roller coaster it must be to fully live on the sleeve of another person. After all, people can falter and fail, so what can we do? How about putting your life in the hands of God Himself. “…rely on the love God has for us” (1 John 4:16) That’s right, it’s God – imagine waking up everyday to find that you are completely satisfied with who you are – not based on what you look like, what grade you got on that test, how you did on your business presentation – but just because you are one of his children, you are complete and whole by His love. Do you think that God loves you any less because you faltered or failed? Have you woken up to unemployment, d...

You can't find God with Google

Have you ever used Google? Personally, I love it. I can search for books, movies, reviews, IT resolutions, maps, phone numbers - I can even search for pictures, Powerpoint templates... you name it, you've got it. Now, have you ever tried to Google "God"? Go ahead and try it... you will find that a search for God results in 468,000,000 matches to your request in .10 seconds. That is quite a bit of information. At the front end of the search, numbers 1-10, I found the Wikpedia definition of God, a site for the Church of Latter Day Saints, the Catholic Encyclopedia, 50 simple proofs that God doesn't exist, and Leonardo Dicaprio (I was a bit confused about that one) Now remember, these results are just within the first 10! The fact of the matter is, that we cannot rely on Google to answer life's questions, especially our most important questions about God. If you're like me, then I would say "Well I wouldn't search for God on Google in the first place...

Wow…

What a time we have had these last few weeks, huh? It has been full of celebrity deaths. Michael Jackson, of course, headlined the news over all others. Let me start off by saying that while his life may have continued in a downward spiral, all we can hope is that he knew Christ. I’ll admit, I’ve had a little trouble trying to “honor” his life for his talent and contribution to music. I have a lot of work to do to become Christ-like in this area, but I have to be honest and say that it is hard to not think about the odd mentality of Michael Jackson (and others like him) and the cases that were brought against him. Please pray for me to look past sins or potential sins of others and love the person as Jesus did and still does. Thank you for bearing with me, I had to get that out of the way. Back to the subject of death… while it’s not an easy subject, it certainly is a popular topic. All of us born on this earth will one day experience our last breath. Wouldn’t it be great if we knew wh...

A few thoughts

I have often wondered what could have been… what about you? Seriously, have you ever considered what could have been if you had dedicated yourself to finishing that degree? Or spent more time with your kids, brothers, sisters, or friends? Maybe you would be making enough dough to challenge the ranks of top executives, or even be the one who decides who gets to stay with the company rather than the one who is being decided on. Perhaps your kids would have listen more, your brother’s and sister’s lives would not be so disappointing from their eyes, and your friends might be willing to have an in-depth conversation or two more than the forwarded e-mail friendship that has become the custom. Then I find myself wondering what might not have been… what about you? Go with me on this. If you have ever stopped to help a stranded family push their mini-van out of traffic, help a friend through the end of a tough relationship, or handed a pair of shoes to a man who didn’t have any then you may un...
